Stockholm - the world´s 25th most powerful city

As the only Scandinavian city and one of only six European cities the Swedish capital makes it to the list of the world´s most economically powerful cities.Mightier than Copenhagen, Helsinki and Oslo, but less economically significant than Buenos Aires, Melbourne and Osaka. It is the American magazine The Atlantic who has ranked the world's 25 most economically powerful cities, and Stockholm’s urban economy was able to just qualify to the list.
The criteria for ending up on the attractive list are three: economic, financial and innovative strength. Tokyo is ranked as the most powerful in the world with New York and London on the other podium places.
Instead of comparing nations and their gross domestic product, great cities around the world are compared in terms of gross regional product (GRP). Tokyo and New York are standing out with GRP of over $ 1 trillion each. Third-placed London's GRP was less than half, 452 billion dollars while the figure for Stockholm was 49 billion.
Stockholm share the place as the 25th most powerful economically in the world with Dublin. In one of the three subcategories is the Swedish capital however ranked higher than the overall placement. When it comes to innovative power Stockholm takes place 19.
It should be noted that the figures that form the basis for The Atlantic's list are from 2005, the latest year with worldwide comparable data.
